Accounts Officer - Sydney

A position has opened up for an Accounts Officer to join our team. Offering the full breadth of financials across AP, AR, Payroll and adhoc reporting, this role needs a true “all-rounder” eager to learn and build their Accounting career.

With the support of the Financial Controller, Directors, General Manager and HR Manager, you will join a supportive team invested in seeing your career develop.
The Role

Joining a team of 40+ staff located across Australia and overseas, your key responsibilities will be:

• End to end accounts payable/receivable
• Bank and credit card reconciliations
• Upload and enter regular payments, as well as adhoc payments as directed
• Processing of suppliers and contractors’ invoices for payment
• Liaising with both internal and external stakeholders where needed

• Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of BAS, PAYG, Worker Compensation, payroll tax and other tax related tasks

Payroll & Account Admin
• Preparing and Processing of payroll for 40+ employees across both fortnightly and monthly payrolls
• Process leave requests to ensure accurate accrual calculations and balances
• Attend to all employee payroll queries with the support of HR and the Financial Controller
• Provide feedback on excessive leave balances (both positive and negative) to HR
• Prepare PAYG Group Summary for review by Financial Controller
• Prepare annual declarations for workers compensation for review by Financial Controller prior to due date
• Maintenance of Xero and Employee Hero data, ensuring quality and accuracy

• Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of monthly financial reports
• Raise to the Financial Controller, Directors, General Manager or HR problems, concerns or areas of improvement across the finance and payroll functions
• Other adhoc requirements as requested by the Financial Controller, Directors, General Manager or other stakeholders
• Update Financial calendar with relevant due dates of Financial and Tax obligations

To be successful in this role you will require:

• Solid knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
• 3-5+ years in similar role, with relevant CA/CPA qualifications (or actively working towards)
• Natural numerical literacy
• Strict attention to detail
• Naturally logical, sequential and systematic thinker
• Quick learner who can easily adapt to changing situations
• Ability to work autonomously, self-manage workload and seek support where needed
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
• Xero and Employment Hero experience high regarded
